The Macroeconomic Impacts of Decarbonization Assessment Scenarios (MIDAS) dataset is a comprehensive resource designed to support evidence-based policymaking for the transition to net-zero emissions. Resulting from the largest meta-analysis to date of Computable General Equilibrium (CGE) assessments, the dataset contains 1,562 country-scenario observations derived from 895 unique scenarios obtained from more than 200 academic articles.
MIDAS is constantly evolving. If your published CGE-based assessment of a decarbonization policy or scenario is not yet included, please feel free to submit it using the following form.
For each observation, it provides quantitative data on projected GDP impacts and corresponding greenhouse gas emissions reductions relative to a baseline. It also details policy design features such as the use of carbon revenue recycling, which can significantly alter economic outcomes.
The MIDAS dataset allows researchers and policymakers to analyze the heterogeneous costs of decarbonization across countries and income levels and to better understand the economic challenges and opportunities inherent in the global climate effort.
MIDAS was created and is managed by Aurélien Saussay and Victor Mongay.
